After last night’s win over the Seahawks, and for a few weeks now, everyone has been slobbering all over the Dallas Cowboys knob.
“These Cowboys are different!”
Are they?
“Dak is one of the best QBs in the league!”
Is he?
“This just feels different.”

Does it?
Look, I get it. There are tens of millions of Cowboys fans all across the country. Every single one of them is delusional from a few Super Bowl wins nearly 30 years ago, but still, like it or not there’s a whole bunch of ’em.
What does this mean to us fans? Well, ESPN and the national sports media will do what they’ve done for decades and try and shove every single hopeless Cowboys team down our throats.
But really how good is this 2023 version of the Cowboys?
Let’s look at who they’ve beaten:
-Giants X2
-Jets
-Patriots
-Chargers
-Rams
-Panthers
-Commanders
-Seahawks
I’m searching for a win against a quality opponent in there somewhere…
The combined record of those opponents, minus each teams loss to the Cowboys, is a whopping:
30-52
Those teams record including their losses against Dallas is (Cowboys fans cover your eyes):
30-61 (!!!)
The Cowboys 3 losses you ask? The 49ers, Eagles, and, wait for it…the 2-10 Cardinals.
So yes, the win last night in Seattle was a good, not great, win. I mean hell, they had to go into overtime just to beat a Kenneth Walker-less, Geno Smith led Seahawk team. And that was easily their best win of the year!
The next 4 teams on the Cowboys schedule are, in order:
-Eagles
-Bills
-Dolphins
-Lions
2 at home, 2 on the road. Their last game of the season is in Washington against the Commanders.
Get a couple quality wins these next few weeks and sure, I’ll take the Cowboys “seriously”, whatever that means. We all know Dallas will choke in the playoffs either way, like they always do.
Until then, can we pump the brakes on the Cowboys being “different” this year? Or are we just in an endless news cycle where ESPN and company pump up the Cowboys over and over again, only for them to fail…over and over again?
Spoiler, it’s going to be the latter.
At least the sportsbooks agree with me, the Cowboys being +400 (3rd best odds) to win the NFC, and +900 (6th best odds) to win the Super Bowl.
If you can find a way to fade Dallas, do it. These boys ain’t doing shit…yet again.
