As I was writing this, Kyrie Irving just got traded to the Mavericks.
Fuck Kyrie Irving.
Let’s all reminisce on when Jamal Murray almost dropped 50 on his head:
What a fuckin loser. Remember, Kyrie destroys teams, he doesn’t help them. While the Mavs may slightly improve from this trade, think of how miserable it will be to watch that team. Iso ball all game long…
Also, no defense will be played.
So Nuggets fans, don’t fret. We still have the best team in the West.
Now back to your regularly scheduled blog post.
Take a look at Jamal Murray’s last 3 games:
You have to love the numbers, but what stands out recently is the confidence:
Look at this man amongst boys hyping up the crowd because he knows he’s the shit.
Jamal Murray is toying with people. He’s all up in his bag, no crumbs at the bottom.
When Jamal plays like this, the Nuggets are literally impossible to stop. What can you do? You can’t even consider doubling him, you have the soon-to-be 3 time MVP nearby. Jokic is covered? No problem, you have MPJ or KCP in the corners or on the wing. Can’t get it to them? Oh you just have an all-star level player in Aaron Gordon having the best season of his career. I’d grace you with some Joker highlights, but we all know what Nikola Jokic can do. I could throw in some AG dunks, or MPJ threes, but let’s stay on the subject. Let’s continue giving Jamal his flowers.
Coach Malone summed it up perfectly (second video).
“An aggressive Jamal, a confident Jamal, is a scary Jamal, and I love it.”
We do too coach, we do too.
With all of the Bones drama going on, the team could have faltered these last few games. For a squad that’s had immaculate vibes all year, the imminent trade of Bones Hyland, which I was very much on top of, could have had negative implications all around. Instead? It seems to have made the Nuggets stronger as a group. Denver looks fuckin unstoppable right now, in large part because Jamal Murray finally has his legs back under him.
The “Bubble Jamal Murray” narrative should have ended years ago. People forget, but the year AFTER the bubble, before the ACL injury, Jamal was averaging over 21 points/game on almost 60% true shooting, while also averaging nearly 5 assists/game. Bubble Murray is a myth. Jamal Murray is HIM, as the youths would say.
The best part? This guy finally gets to take this jersey off:
Take it off Bones Collector, you deserve it.
